October 30, 2017 — Orchestra Networks remains a Leader in Gartner's second unified MDM Solutions evaluation of the year.

Nine months after the first unified MDM Solutions Magic Quadrant, Gartner published another edition. Orchestra Networks remained a Leader. The October report established that the January placement was not a one-time transition effect.

This was the second report in the consecutive Leader sequence.

EBX5 advanced during 2017

Gartner evaluated EBX5 version 5.8.0, released in April 2017. It estimated Orchestra Networks' 2016 MDM software revenue at $24.9 million and associated the company with 157 customers managing multiple data domains.

The leading licensed domains remained diverse: finished product, customer or citizen, and financial data. That distribution continued to support the argument that EBX5 was a multidomain platform in deployed practice, not only in product positioning.

Momentum and multidomain execution

The report described Orchestra Networks' estimated 2016 revenue growth as substantially faster than the overall MDM software market. Among vendors with at least $25 million in 2016 revenue, Gartner identified Orchestra Networks as having the highest growth.

Gartner also reported above-average reference survey results for EBX5 across governance, stewardship, multiple usage scenarios, and multidomain support. Orchestra Networks received the top total-cost-of-ownership survey score for the second consecutive report. Its references spanned a broad range of industries and mastered domains, and the company frequently succeeded after detailed multidomain proofs of concept.

The constraints shifted toward scale

The cautions focused less on whether EBX5 could support multidomain MDM and more on the organizational scale around it. Gartner cited limited Asia-Pacific coverage, a partner ecosystem that lagged larger vendors, and a need for qualified Java and EBX resources on complex implementations.

As EBX5 gains market momentum, the challenge is expanding expertise and delivery capacity without losing the platform's flexibility.

Why two reports in one year matter

Calling this “the 2017 result” would hide an important detail. Gartner issued two distinct MDM Solutions reports in 2017:

  • January 19: the inaugural unified evaluation;
  • October 30: a new edition with updated product, revenue, customer, and reference evidence.

Orchestra Networks is a Leader in both. The distinction matters: these are two consecutive reports issued in one calendar year.
